Abba Father

Imagine how Jesus, when He was on this earth, called His Father Daddy. We can somehow understand that, but the thought that He wants us to call God Daddy, is alittle harder to swallow. "Abba" is actually the greek word for Daddy.
Romans 8:14-16 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. for ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. For the Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.

You see, God the creator of the universe, calls you His child, and He wants you to call Him Daddy. It's such a loving term, and difficult for many of us to do, even for the simple fact that many dads have checked out, and we don't even know how and what that looks like.

Some years back, I was honored to visit Israel, and walking thru the ancient city streets near the Western wall, you could hear the young children calling their dads "Abba", as they ran to catch up with their pappa.

A child who calls his father "Daddy" has an affectionate relationship, and has built up a secure trust, knowing his dad takes good care of him.  If God calls us his own and wants this relationship, it's up to us to come near, come closer. What are you waiting for? Today would be good...
